About the Department
The Department of Computer Science at Government Graduate College Asghar Mall aims to become a recognised centre for computing education, research, and innovation in the region. Affiliated with the University of the Punjab, the department focuses on building graduates who combine solid theoretical grounding with the practical, hands-on skills that today's technology sector demands.
Why Study with Us
Students work in a well-furnished computer laboratory with 30 modern systems, high-speed internet, and multimedia facilities supporting programming instruction and hands-on project work in software development, database management, and networking. The BS Computer Science programme carries formal NCEAC (HEC) accreditation, and the department undergoes regular review through the University of the Punjab's Quality Enhancement Cell. The department runs a regular calendar of programming competitions, coding workshops, seminars, industrial visits, hackathons, and project exhibitions.
Vision
Graduates who go on as software engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders — equipped to take on real problems with technical depth and sound judgment, and to contribute to Pakistan's digital growth.
Mission
Deliver a computer science education pairing strong theoretical foundations with genuine hands-on practice; build problem-solving, analytical, and programming skills; encourage research in emerging areas of computing; instil professional ethics, leadership, and teamwork; maintain links with industry and research partners for internships and joint projects; and support entrepreneurship and the responsible use of computing technology.
